Kwankwaso Declares PDP Dead, Awaiting Burial

TheBeat reports that Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has asserted that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is effectively dead.
The Kano State-born politician, who was the NNPP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, declared that the PDP is now only awaiting its final burial.
Kwankwaso made this remark on Saturday during the inauguration of the NNPP Secretariat along IBB Way in Katsina.
Reports indicate that Kwankwaso, confident of his victory in the 2027 presidential election, was in Katsina to pay a condolence visit to the Yar’adua family following the death of their matriarch, Hajiya Dada.
According to him, the NNPP is poised to take over the presidency, states, and other key positions across the country in 2027. He emphasized that the party is on track for success in the upcoming general elections.
Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, stated, “I wish to remind you that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is already dead, because we were in the party. Since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out.”
He urged Nigerians, particularly women and youths, not to be swayed by offers of food or money during the next elections.
Kwankwaso also called on the party’s leaders to strengthen their commitment to the success of the party both in the state and nationwide. He praised them and other stakeholders for renovating the state secretariat, describing it as part of the preparations for victory.
Additionally, the NNPP leader pledged support for Abubakar Ibrahim, a young boy from Yammawa in the state who is suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso’s statement has sparked interest among political observers, particularly regarding the future of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is rumored to be eyeing the presidency in 2027 on the PDP platform, a party Kwankwaso has now pronounced dead.
