2027: Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso planning possible merger – PDP

In a recent statement, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Deputy National Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revealed that three major opposition figures in Nigeria are contemplating a merger to address national issues such as hunger and insecurity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program on Monday, Abdullahi mentioned that Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) are considering setting aside personal interests to form a strong alliance. The aim of this coalition would be to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and offer solutions to the country’s current crises.

Abdullahi noted that had the party’s previous leadership managed internal conflicts better, influential figures such as former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Kwankwaso, and Obi might have remained with the PDP. He believes their continued membership could have led to a victory over Bola Tinubu of the APC in the last election.

He asserted, “We’ve lost Kwankwaso, we’ve lost Peter Obi; imagine if they were in the party, we would have won the elections. This APC said they defeated us with one million plus (votes); just one of these names that I mentioned would have covered that gap for us, and we would have been in power today, and certainly Nigerians would not have been confronted with this despair and despondency in the land.”
