APC Primary: I Didn’t Pay ₦10M Bribe to Party leaders – Mbaitoli Candidate Insist

Controversy has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, following allegations that a senior party leader accepted ₦10,000,000 to endorse Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo, the Sole Administrator (SOLAD) of the council, as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Local Government Council elections.

These claims arose after the release of a consensus list that named Nwanegwo as the APC’s candidate.

It is alleged that during a meeting at a senior party leader’s office in Owerri, ₦10,000,000 was distributed among select party leaders to secure their endorsement of Nwanegwo, thereby giving credibility to a previously rejected list by the Governor.

However, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo has categorically denied these allegations, calling them false and misleading.

“The claims of a ₦10,000,000 bribe for endorsement are entirely unfounded, and they only serve as attempts by political detractors to tarnish my image,” Nwanegwo stated. “I do not possess such an amount in my bank account, nor would I be capable of offering ₦10,000,000 to APC stakeholders and leaders.”

Nwanegwo insists that these accusations stem from misinformation spread by those opposed to his candidacy.

The controversy appears to be driven by certain political figures intent on disrupting the progress of the Local Government and undermining the integrity of the APC’s internal processes.

Despite the allegations, Nwanegwo has called for unity among Mbaitoli’s people, particularly the chairmanship aspirants, urging them to support his candidacy for the benefit of the community.
