US election: Kamala Harris seeks another debate with Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris has expressed interest in engaging in another debate with former president Donald Trump.

Her campaign announced this following Tuesday’s presidential debate, signaling a desire for a second face-off with Trump before the November elections.

According to media reports, the decision to request another debate was made before both candidates took the stage on Tuesday night.

If Trump agrees, this second meeting would be in addition to the October 1 debate between the two major-party vice-presidential nominees.

Harris campaign Chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, said in a statement after the debate that the American people saw the choice they will face at the ballot box: between Harris and Trump.

“That’s what they saw tonight and what they should see at a second debate in October. Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump?” she asked.

Trump had previously called for three debates with Harris, but it’s not immediately clear whether he will agree to a second meeting.

A Trump campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, responded to the news with a brief statement. “Of course,” he wrote. “They need to clean up.”
